a Berlin-based Center for Contemporary Practices, was founded in 2011 in Mittelweg 50, Neukölln.
It operated for 5 years in its 800m2 yellow brick building, running cross-disciplinary projects exploring contemporary ways of collaborating in an urban context within its main pillars: Food, Work, Art, Education, and Movement. With extended residency programs for artists, co-working spaces, a food lab/restaurant, and educational programs, Agora fostered experiences and encounters for a very diverse selection of people and projects.
In 2017, Agora expanded its mission to be also a place of artistic production; providing spaces for visual artists and choreographers to engage within collaborative and community-based practices in its temporary big warehouse in Rollbergstrasse.
Since 2019, Agora closed its physical doors and operates as a collective of artists, curators and producers focused on facilitating interdisciplinary projects. Its core team plans to turn Agora into a production company to continue developing its diverse range of projects.
As Agora co-director and production manager, Marcela has developed, together with her partners, Agora’s multidisciplinary program and its internal structure during the 7 years of its physical spaces.
